The Wedding of Jo and Dan - The Granary Estates, Cambridge
Over a year ago I met Jo and Dan to discuss the possibility of shooting their special day and was so glad they chose me as the wedding was a few weeks back at The Granary Estates near Cambridge and it was an awesome day to photograph - 1 beautiful bride, 1 handsome groom, 6 bridesmaids, 1 best-man and 5 ushers - perfect symmetry!
I arrived at Granary Cottage on the estate where the bridal preparations were already underway, with the 6 bridesmaids starting to get ready. Before Jo began her time with hair and makeup artist Lucy Ridley (http://lucyridley.com/), I spent half an hour capturing the fantastic bridal details - the dress, the shoes, the jewellery and the flowers.
We then had great fun photographing Lucy prepare Jo for the big day ahead - lots of laughing and joking around from the bridesmaids as you'll see in some of the shots below!
The morning at the cottage was finished off with some lovely outdoor bridesmaid portraits (once the monsoon had gone!) followed by them getting to see the beautiful bride coming down the stairs in 'the' dress.
While all this was happening, my assistant photographer Natasha (http://www.natasha-biggs.co.uk/) was having fun with the lads as they got ready at home and then spent some time in the pub near the church - this as usual included the obligatory viewing of youtube videos on how to properly put a tie on!
With the skies now clear and blue, the wedding itself took place in St Mary's Church in Woodditton. Lots of smiles and happy faces could be seen at the lovely ceremony which was followed by a drinks reception outside in the grounds.
After a confetti run outside the church, everyone made their way back to The Granary Estates - the courtyard there makes a fantastic backdrop for group shots! We then whisked Jo and Dan off around the grounds, including some beautiful shots in an adjoining barley field and also across the lake.
The wedding breakfast was followed with the very amusing set of speeches and our evening was closed off with Jo and Dan cutting their fabulous-looking 'naked' wedding cake and then taking to the dance floor to show everyone their moves!
I'd like to finish by congratulating Jo and Dan on their marriage and wish them a very happy future together!
Here is a selection of shots from their big day...
