The Wedding of Alice and Joe - Westwood Hotel, Oxford
A few weeks ago we made the trip over to Oxford for the fantastic wedding of Alice and Joe at Wheatley Church followed by the Westwood Hotel in Hinksey.
The day begin at the Westwood where Alice, her bridesmaid and her mum were getting ready. Before shooting Alice herself, we got to work photographing all the fineries surrounding the bride. The dress was a beautiful picture of lace and detail everywhere with equisite shoes to match. With the bubbly now flowing, we captured the fun while Alice was having her hair and make-up done followed by her bridesmaid Eleanor and her mum Rachel.
As with most of my weddings this year, the weather-gods were having some fun by laying on some major rain during the bridal preparations, only for the day to turn into a really warm and dry one for the remainder of it.
With my assistant Catherine now on her way to shoot the 'lads' I finished up at the hotel with some pictures on the stairs, having to go into 'SAS' mode so that the bride wasn't spotted before the ceremony by other wedding guests staying at the hotel. I do have to apologise to Mandy and Steve who I forgot to tell it was ok to come out of their room again - no idea how long they were stuck in there thinking they weren't allowed out!
I then headed off to Wheatley Church for some shots of the lads outside before then waiting for the arrival of the beautiful bride followed by a lovely warming wedding ceremony. After a confetti walk from the church doorway, we then all made our way back to the Westwood Hotel for the reception.
Upon arrival at the Westwood, the entire wedding party was captured in a big group picture, shot from a hotel balcony and I then spent some time just with Alice and Joe around the grounds shooting some bride and groom portraits.
The sumptuous wedding breakfast was finished off with a rousing set of speeches from Alice's father Rory, Joe himself and then the two best-men Markus and Tommy.
With the cake-cutting then done, it was time for Alice and Joe to kick-off the evening's entertainment with their first dance - a great introduction to show everyone how to party - which they certainly did!
A huge thanks to my wife Catherine for second-shooting and assisting me on the big day - keeping me under control and on time as usual!
And finallly, big congratulations to Alice and Joe and we wish them all the happiness in the world for their married life together!
I hope you enjoy this selection of shots from their special day...
