The Wedding of Sarah-Jayne and Paul - St Ives Golf Club, Cambridge
First things first - WOW - this was a scorcher!
At the end of July, on what was possibly the hottest day of the year, it was finally the time for Sarah-Jayne (S-J) and Paul’s wedding and I was really looking forward to spending the day with them! These two really are a fun couple - lots and lots of laughs.
The day started at the Belfry Hotel in Cambourne where S-J and the bridal party were getting ready. The first thing to do on arrival was get to work shooting the fantastic dress and all the details. We were loving the “I Do” underneath the shoes - a lovely touch! S-J's hair was then put into a masterpiece - topped off with the most beautiful of tiaras. By this point, the bottle of “Veuve Clicquot” champers was opened and being well and truly enjoyed!
With the finishing touches being done at the Belfry, my second-shooter Catherine headed off to the best-man’s house to capture him helping Paul get ready for the big day. Their subsequent trip to the church included an interlude into The Cock pub in Hemingford Grey for a well-earned pint (or two?) I now made my way to the church to get some great shots of the lads outside by the edge of the river - an amazing location with the picture-postcard look. With the bride arriving shortly after we were then treated to a lovely ceremony - full of laughs, smiles and a few tears.
After a few group shots in front of the river backdrop, a bizzare well-wishing from two near-naked canoeists, and a confetti run out of the churchyard it was time for S-J and Paul to make their way onto St Ives Golf Club.
The golf club has a lovely courtyard which was perfect for the big group shot. I then whisked S-J and Paul around the lake by the 18th to get some great bride-and-groom images - such naturals at showing their love for each other! I must now thank S-J and Paul for inviting us to sit with their guests while we joined in the fantastic wedding breakfast - great food and great company! It was soon back to work though shooting the hilarious speeches from S-J’s father, Paul and then the best-man Michael. Following the cake-cutting came the moment of the first dance and then an invite for everyone join in on the dance floor!
Many thanks again to my wife Catherine for second-shooting for me and grabbing some brilliant images as usual.
And last but not least, huge congratulations to S-J and Paul and we hope they enjoy married life together and have a great future!
Here’s a few shots from the day…
